Is the english word “perusal” particularly old or does it have a special meaning different from “reading”? It seems noone’s using it, and I wonder why.

  1. arcanewaif said: ‘To peruse’ is used occasionally, but hardly in the US. Nowadays it usually means to look through something, rather than really read. You can peruse a magazine, or a collection of dolls, or a book. It’s like a step short of reading.
